GENERAL POLICIES

 

Dressing Room Guidelines for StarSkaters

As a guideline for StarSkate levels, if a male parent is required to tie a skater's skates, they should do so outside of the dressing room. If a male must enter for anything else, they must announce themselves before entering to ensure all skaters are dressed and permission is given to enter the dressing room. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Waiver & Photo Release

All registered skaters accept and release, from any and all claims, the Akasaka Figure Skating Club, its directors, contractors and coaches and agree that none of them shall be held responsible for any accident, injury, or loss, however caused, whether on or off club premises, ice or other facilities.

All registered skaters accept and give permission to the Akasaka Figure Skating Club to photograph/video the registered skater for the purposes of club advertisement and promotion. All registered skaters are aware that these photographs/videos and/or the registered skaters name may be used on the club’s website, newsletter, sent to the media or used in other club promotions. If you do not wish to have your skater photographed, please advise us in writing, and submit to akasakafsc@gmail.com

Confidentiality

All members of the Akasaka Figure Skating Club including Executive, Coaches and paid staff must conduct themselves in a professional manner in respect to the confidentiality of all Club related business.

 

CANCELLATION OF PROGRAMS

Cancellation of Programs

  1. Absences: The Executive recommend that skaters (parents) notify their coaches if the skater will not be attending his/her regular lessons.
  2. Ice Changes and Rink Closures: These are out of control of the Executive and skaters will be notified as soon as possible through email and WhatsApp
  3. Program Numbers: Numbers in programs must meet required “safety requirements and cost recovery budget” for all programs to run. The Akasaka Figure Skating Club reserves the right to cancel or change all scheduled times and programs due to insufficient registration.

Numbers in Programs

  1. Starskate Program – A maximum of 24 skaters will be allowed for each session at the discretion of the Executive and Club Administrator.
  2. Canskate Program – A minimum of ten skaters per coach, to a maximum of 50 skaters per session at the discretion of the Executive and Administrator. Program Assistants will assist with the program.

 

CLUB FEES: 

Skate Canada Fees

All skaters must be members of Skate Canada. This involves an annual fee as set by Skate Canada. The 2024/25 Fee is set at $61.65. Your membership is valid September 1st - August 31st every year. The fee will automatically be added into your total when you register for the 2024/25 skating year. This fee is nonrefundable.

Registrations & Fees

  • Registrations will take place online via the club website www.akasakafsc.com
  • Registrations will not be taken over the phone or via email
  • Registrations will be booked on a first come first served basis.
  • All members must be registered with Skate Canada for the current skating season. (Done by the club each year).
  • While registrations are processed on a first come basis, the Administrator has the authority to request schedule changes to safely accommodate the maximum number of skaters.
  • Skaters are not allowed on the ice until full payment or installment payments are set up and received by the club.
  • Registered skaters of the Akasaka Figure Skating club must use a registered AFSC coach for lessons
  • Registered skaters of the Akasaka Figure Skating club must be represented by a registered AFSC coach at all competitions and assessments and must represent the Akasaka Figure Skating Club as their home club.

Declined Payments and Missed Payments

In all cases of declined payments, one additional attempt will be made by Club administration to process the payment again. If payment continues to be declined, the skater will be considered not in good standing with the Club and will not be permitted to participate in any Club activity, including regular skating sessions, until such time as full payment has been made. If payment has not been made within 30 days from date of decline, the member shall be considered as having terminated their membership. No refunds will be provided for any partial monies paid.

Competitions

Akasaka Figure Skating Club Members must pay their own competition fees and expenses.


Cancellation/Refund/Administration Fee Policy

  • No refunds are provided after the third day of classes
  • Registration may be pro-rated if you are starting after the first class.  This is at the discretion of the Club.
  • Fees may be pro-rated for special circumstances on a case-by-case basis. This is at the discretion of the Club.
