Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!

Semi-Private and Private Lessons

All STARSkate registrants follow by the STAR Stream Assessment model and you are agreeing to incur the cost of Junior/Intermediate/Senior StarSkate lessons provided to your StarSkater by individually contracted Professional Coach(es) within the Akasaka Figure Skating Club. These Lessons are invoiced privately by each contacted coach separate from Registration Fees charged by the Akasaka Figure Skating Club.

Dressing Room Guidelines for STARSkaters

As a guideline for Intermediate and Senior levels, if a male parent is required to tie a skater's skates, they should do so outside of the dressing room. If a male must enter for anything else, they must announce themselves before entering to ensure all skaters are dressed and permission is given to enter the dressing room. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Program Assistants

As a part of our skating program, STARSkate skaters must help out with the CanSkate program by assisting the coaches during weekly practices. Our Program Assistants (PA’s) dedicate their time to help our new and young skaters learn and develop new skills on the ice.

STARSkate Music Playing

Each month, the coaches will post a music schedule that will require someone from each family to play music for different skating sessions. This ensures that coaches and skaters are making the most of their time on the ice during lessons and not worrying about changing songs when required.
It is the responsibility of each family to reschedule and/or change a shift with another family if they cannot cover their day(s).

Testing & Assessments

If you have been contacted by a Coach to indicate that your skater is being tested for a STAR skills, free skate (also freeskate, free skating) or dance level, you are required to pay the testing fee for the assessment as well. This fee is collected by Skate Canada, and is the responsibility of the skater.
